Project:  Geosynthetic Reinforced Wall Analysis III

PI(s):  Robert D. Holtz

Sponsor:  WSDOT

Objective:  To develop a working stress design procedure for geosynthetic reinforced soil (GRS) retaining structures

Research Approach:   The first phase of this research developed the test apparatus to provide basic soil-geosynthetic interaction parameters for GRS. Phase II focussed on the analysis of GRS walls using FLAC and included the back-analysis as well as Class A predictions of GRS wall behavior. Current work includes parametric analyses, additional Class A predictions, and the development of a deformation-based design procedure
