Nancy Nihan received her B.S.I.E. from Northwestern University in 1964, and her Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University in 1967 and 1970, respectively. She served as an Assistant Professor in the University of Illinois Chicago Circle from 1969 until 1974, when she joined the faculty at the University of Washington. During the academic years 1984-85 and 1985-86 she was a visiting scholar at the Transport Studies Group, University College London. She served as the Director of Transportation, Surveying, and Construction Engineering from 1987-1988 and has been the Director of the USDOT University Transportation Center for Federal Region 10 from 1988 to the present date.
