Construction Engineering
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE)
offers a graduate program specializing in Construction Engineering. Due to available faculty resources, only a limited number of graduate students are accepted into the on-campus program that wish to focus primarily on construction management. For those accepted into Construction Engineering (construction management), a number of the student’s courses will be taken in the Department of Construction Management, College of Architecture and Urban Planning. The two departments have a strong collaboration that includes co-sponsorship of a Distance Learning (off-campus) Master's Degree with an emphasis on Construction Engineering through the University of Washington Educational Outreach program.
The current Construction Faculty in CEE broadly specialize in construction materials, pavements, and transportation (such as airport facilities). Applicants are most welcome to apply if interested in these specialty areas. Some graduate applicants prefer to combine aspects of transportation and construction for a graduate degree. Such interests are accommodated in Construction Engineering.
