Graduate Nonmatriculated (GNM) Status
Most post-baccalaureate students who do not require a student (F-1) visa are eligible to apply for Graduate Nonmatriculated (GNM) status. GNM provides access to graduate courses for qualified post-baccalaureate students who are not at the present time seeking a graduate degree but may later want to apply these credits toward a degree. GNM students who are later admitted to a master's program may transfer up to 12 applicable GNM credits toward the degree. GNM status does not guarantee admission into the graduate program to pursue a degree.
If you are granted GNM status, the University of Washington Extension Office will send you registration materials and instructions. Your registration will be processed after you return the completed forms and fees. If you register in GNM status, you will need to obtain the instructor's signature on an approval form for each class.
For more information on Graduate Nonmatriculated status go to http://www.outreach.washington.edu/nondegree/register/.
