Academic Quarter of Entry
Autumn Quarter is generally the only time permissible for entrance of new graduate students into the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Many series of courses commence in the autumn quarter, with winter and spring courses building on autumn quarter fundamentals. Exceptions to this would be former graduate students of the department who require only one quarter to complete their degree requirements or applicants whose credentials indicate they may fulfill a particular research need.

Review of File
When your application file is complete, it will be evaluated by at least two professors in your area of interest. These evaluations are then used by the area faculty to make admissions decisions every few weeks between February 1 and May 31. Additional admissions decisions may be made later if the enrollment quota has not been reached by June 1.

Advising and Registration
Upon approval by the University of Washington Graduate School, the applicant is advised to pay a $100 deposit and state a preference for a registration date. Registration materials are not sent out until the deposit is received.
