CEE Backup System

This backup system will protect your files against accidental deletion, hardware failure or loss of equipment for up to 2 months (current and previous). For your long-term archieval needs, please, contact help@ce separately. You can have this service started by following the 3 steps described below.

(1) Download the client software for: Windows, MacOS, Linux or Solaris.

(2) Install the client software:

You will be asked to assign a password during installation. This password should be something other than your UW NetID or any Windows/MAC/UNIX user passwords. It is used for initial connection by the backup server and then replaced.

(3) Send the following information to help@ce.washington.edu:

Temporary password assigned above
IP Address
Desktop or Laptop *
Local Account Username(s) (not UW NetID)
Additional Directories to be backed up **

* Laptops will be backed up during workdays and work hours.
Desktops will be backed up at night and during the weekends.

** For typical users the following directories will be backed up:

Windows 2000/XP:

 C:\Documents and Settings\username

MacOS 10.x:

 Hard Drive/Users/username

Operating System and Application/Program files will not be backed up.
