PI eligibility
A person holding any one of the following titles is eligible to serve as a principal investigator:
- Professor
- Research Professor
- Associate Professor
- Research Associate Professor
- Assistant Professor
- Research Assistant Professor
- Research Scientists of Grade 10 and above (adopted by COE Executive Committee, January 1997)
- PNNL Affiliate Professor
Persons holding the following titles may also be eligible, but are subject to review and approval by the Department Chair and Vice Dean on a case-by-case basis:
- Lecturer
- Director (of a major program)
- Senior lecturer
- Research scientist of Grade 9
- Visiting and acting titles
- Affiliate Faculty
To submit a request for approval, fill out the PI Exemption Form and submit to Becky Rooney, Director of Research.
PI research required training
To help those conducting research at the UW comply with external sponsor and internal requirements and/or reduce risk to the researcher, required trainings are offered.
