Industry members benefit from UW resources and interact with the department in a variety of ways, from contributing to the educational mission to working with faculty and students on research problems to utilizing specialized lab equipment on campus. Hiring? Find students for internships or open positions through a variety of channels. Students are interested in opportunities that expand their experience and build knowledge and skills (internship, co-op, part-time or summer jobs) as well as permanent career placements.

  • Annual UW CEE Career Fair: Attended by more than 350 students, the annual career fair is held in January and connects employers with students who are seeking internships as well as full-time positions. Registration for interested companies and organizations begins in late August.
  • Job and Internship Posting Services: More than 85 percent of undergraduate students pursue internships, working on high-profile projects that often result in job offers. Post your job and internship announcements to email lists and student blogs, which are sent to current students and recent graduates.   • Career Center @ Engineering (CC@E): A full-service office that works in conjunction with the central UW Career & Internship Center to coordinate job postings, on-campus interviews and technical talks. It also manages the Engineering Internship Program.
  • UW Career & Internship Center: The central clearinghouse for employment opportunities and career services to students and employers. Services include Handshake, on-campus interviews, annual recruitment programs, career fairs, and a range of comprehensive services for students and employers.
  • College of Engineering Partnerships with Industry: Working closely with industry and foundation partners, the College of Engineering is developing a new generation of innovators.

As students prepare to enter the workforce, they benefit from learning about current challenges and projects in the field. Join us on campus to give a presentation about your work. In addition to company exposure, you’ll be directly connected to students.

Insight and input from professional engineers is valuable to our students. Please consider mentoring students through the following student activities:

  • Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge teams: Help students evaluate technical aspects of design, mentor students and provide support for teams to succeed at competitions.
  • In-class projects: Provide case studies, presentations and guest lectures.
  • Resume assistance: Participate in events and panels to provide resume and interview feedback and best practices.
  • Engineering Exploration Night: Talk with students one-on-one about engineering careers.
  • CEE 101: Give a talk in this seminar course that introduces undergraduates to the various research areas in civil and environmental engineering.
  • Capstone Design Class: Mentor a team of students working on a capstone design project, or volunteer to evaluate projects.
