The Microbial Ecology lab is located in the Benjamin Hall Interdisciplinary Research Building. The facility is fully equipped for microbiology and molecular analyses of environmental and cultivated samples, including DNA, protein and genome analyses. Special equipment includes walk-in incubators, an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer, a Roche Light Cycler quantitative PCR machine, a Zeiss Stemi SV 11 stereo dissection microscope with digital camera attachment, a Zeiss Pascal laser scanning confocal microscope system for three dimensional imaging of fluorescence, a Dionex LC20 Chromatography unit, a Waters HPLC with autosampler, an anaerobic chamber and numerous incubators.
