BSCE General Education courses

Students typically complete their program prerequisites and general education requirements (roughly 90 credits) during their freshmen and sophomore years.

Engineering Undeclared (ENGRUD) students: Complete the College of Engineering Placement Requirements for placement into the BSCE program.

Transfer and non-Direct to College (DTC) students: Application prerequisites are designated below with a single asterisk (*) whereas enrollment prerequisites are designated with a double asterisk (**).  For a complete list of application and enrollment requirements, see the College of Engineering Prerequisite by Major for Transfer and Non-DTC Student page. 

Mathematics (24 credits)

  • MATH 124 Calc/Analytic Geom I (5 credits)*
  • MATH 125 Calc/Analytic Geom II (5 credits)*
  • MATH 126 Calc/Analytic Geom III (5 credits)*
  • MATH 207 (or MATH 307) or AMATH 351 Differential Equations (3 credits)
  • MATH 208 (or MATH 308) or AMATH 352 Matrix/Linear Algebra (3 credits)**
  • IND E 315 or STAT 390 Probability and Statistics (3-4 credits)

Sciences (25 credits)

  • CHEM 142 General Chemistry (5 credits)*
  • CHEM 152 General Chemistry (5 credits)
  • PHYS 121 Mechanics (5 credits)*

Engineering Fundamentals (20+ credits)

  • AMATH 301 Beg Sci Computing, CSE 122 Introduction to Computer Programming II, CSE 142 Computer Programming I or CSE 160 Data Programming (4 credits) **
  • AA 210 Statics (4 credits)*
  • CEE 220 Mechanics of Materials (4 credits)**
  • ME 230 Dynamics & Kinematics (4 credits)**
  • Additional Engineering Fundamentals
    • ME 123 (A&H), MSE 170, EE 215, INDE 250, AA 260 or INDE 315.
      • Note: If you complete statistics w/ INDE 315, you can apply MATH 209 or MATH 224 toward this requirement. See your adviser for details.

Written Communication (12 credits)

Economics (CEE topic requirement)

  • IND E 250 (4 credits), ECON 200 (5 credits), or ECON 201 (5 credits)  
    • Note: IND E 250 will also satsify the Additional Engr. Fundamentals requirement; ECON 200/ECON 201 will also satisfy Individuals & Societies requirement.
